The Opininons of Primary School Teachers Concerning Administrators’ Leardership Behaviors and Pupil Control Ideologies

Abstract

The aim of this study is to find out the opinions of primary school teachers concerning administrators’ leardership behaviors and pupil control ideologies. It is a survey type study. In order to collect the necessary data, Leadership Behaviors Scale and Pupil Control Ideologies Scale were used. There were 322 teachers from the primary schools at the city center of Kütahya as the population of the study. Deterministic analysis and corelation analysis were used for the analysis of the data. According to the results of the study, teachers think that the administrators’ leadership behaviors are usually supportive rather than being autocratic. As for the pupil control ideology, the teachers have neither humanistic nor custodial control ideology. There is a reversive, meaningful but low relationhip between the administrators’ supportive leadership behaviors and teachers’ custodial student control ideologies. Moreover, there is low and meaningful relationship between the teachers’ custodial control idelogies and administrators’ autocratic leadership behaviors.
