The Investigation of the Relations Between Students’ Attitude Toward Teaching Profession and Anxiety Level in Faculty of Education

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to understand the relationship between the attitudes of students studying at Faculties of Education toward teaching profession and their anxiety level. Three hundred twenty one students participated in the study and ”Teaching Profession Attitude Scale” and “Beck Anxiety Inventory” were used to collect data. The data was analyzed by using Pearson Correlation Coefficient, t-test and ANOVA. The findings revealed that pre-service teachers’ attitude toward teaching profession was positive, and their anxiety level was low. There were significantly negative and low relations between anxiety level and their attitude. Female students, participants recommending this profession to others; those who like their profession and those who are optimistic in finding a job were find to have positive attitude. The students who are pessimistic about finding a job were more anxious.
