Developing an Attitude Scale For Determining Art Teachers’ Creative Qualities

Abstract

The teacher is one of the basic elements of an education system. Art teachers also have an important role in terms of improving students’ creative qualities. First of all, art teachers must have the creative qualities in order to improve those of the students’. In this study, an attitude scale has been developed in order to determine art teachers’ creative qualities. The scale which was revised in the direction of experts’ opinions has been applied to 126 art teachers. As a result of factor analysis, Barlett has been found as 7362,721 and KMO as .61. This scale having 45 items and being one-dimension has been divided into three parts by the researcher. Item discrimination power of these 45 item has been determined via t-test and has been found significant according to 66 degree of freedom and on the level of .05 in terms of all items. Reliability coefficient of the test has been found to be .95 according to Cronbach Alpha. As a result of these, it can be said that this scale is valid and reliable. Hence, this attitude scale which is one-dimension and homogeneous can be used in order to determine art teachers’ creative qualities.
