Teachers’ Commitments to School and Non-School Institutions

Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the variables affecting the level of commitment to school and some non-school institutions (such as political, spiritual and family values) of elementary school teachers. In the study, we ask the question of whether some personal attitudes of teachers affect their commitment to school and their non-school values. The study was conducted through a survey. The scale of the “Commitment Focuses of the Teachers” developed by the researcher is used as the tool to collect the data in the study. The data was collected through a survey administered to 260 elementary school teachers working in Edirne city center in the education year of 1999-2000.
