Examination of Parents’ Approaches Towards Their Preschool Children’s Art Activities

Abstract

This study aims to examine the approaches to art activities of parents who have preschool children (4-6 years old). Data were obtained from the parents using a questionnaire developed by the researchers. The study finds that children who take preschool education are more interested in art and participate in art activities more compared to those who do not take preschool education. Parents who are interested in art and the parents who are university graduates prepare their children for art activities, point them towards a branch of art considering the different branches according to talents of their children, and ask related institutions for help. In addition, these parents provide their children with materials, examine their studies, talk to them about their activities and encourage them, exhibit their activities and keep them for a long time.
