Abstract

As elementary education has a critical and vital importance within an educational system, the classroom teachers working in these institutions have gained increasing importance. A qualified teaching service in elementary education institutions depends on classroom teachers having certain competencies in the three main duty areas of the teaching and learning processes, which can be termed “the planning of instruction”, “the organizing of instruction in the classroom” and “effective communication and classroom management.” The purpose of this study is to determine how much and at what level these basic competencies are demonstrated by classroom teachers, and in which of these competencies the classroom teachers need to be supported. In this research, done on 510 classroom teachers and 59 elementary education supervisors working in Hatay, “the Quadrant Evaluation Model" was used.
