Abstract

It is known that the structure of education faculties has changed since the 1998-99 academic year in Turkey. A new course, ‘An examination of the Subject Curriculum’, was developed as a result of this change. Although the contents of the course are given, objectives and implementation processes are not indicated in the course documentation. The purpose of this study is to determine the intended objectives of this course. The course was carried out with 20 physics, chemistry and science education postgraduate students. Program development, text-books, together with teaching-learning materials were discussed in the class. Students completed Five home-work projects during the course. Data in this study were collected from the 20 students through a questionnaire and an analysis of their projects. Most of the intended objectives of the course were reached, though activities should be developed to run more systematically. The study concludes with examples of eight projects that teaching staff can have their students prepare together with an account of the behaviours these will gain the students.
