Abstract
In this study it was aimed to reveal primary school students’perceptions of school principal by using drawings of students. Students were required to draw pictures reflecting their thoughts about the concept of “school principal” for this purpose. Phenomenology model was used in this qualitative design study. The study group of this study consisted primary school students attending second stage through the 2009-2010 academic year in Tokat. Data were analyzed by using categorical data analysis method. Data were evaluated by using percent and frequency calculations. Students’ drawings which were obtained at the end of the study classified into 24 categories according to their similar features. Students’ drawings which were made on the concept of school principal, respectively, were mostly belonged to the categories of “being the most negative element”, “being an element of love”, “to become a problem solver”, “be overly prescriptive” and “being a valuable asset”, at least to the categories of “combiner”, “enlightening”, training/giving shape”, and “being unjust.
