The Validity and Reliability of the Interview Exam Administered in Teacher Candidates Selection: TRNC Case

Abstract

 


The purpose of this research is to determine the level of validity and reliability of the interview exam administered in 2009-2010 academic year entrance exam  at Ataturk Teacher Academy. The study group of the research consisted of 40 persons chosen from among those who were successful according to Ataturk Teacher Academy written entrance exam. As a result, the reliability of the scores given to teacher candidates by all five graders was at a high level. In addition, it was also determined that the reliability of the scores given to teacher candidates by all five graders was higher than that of a single grader. The validity of the scores given by all five graders in dimensions of “language” and “general knowledge” was at a good level whereas the validity of the scores in dimensions of “self-introduction,” “hobby,” and “attitude towards teaching profession” was found to be low.
