A Document for Qualitative Research in Visual Arts Education: Portfolio

Abstract

In recent years, there has been an increasing use of qualitative designs in social sciences. Visual art teaching is also being affected from this approach that focuses on qualitative and subjective aspects of artistic learning. The purpose of this study is to exemplify the importance of portfolio documents for qualitative researchers within the framework of transformation in visual arts education methodology. In this context, portfolios which are used as an assessment tool in education of arts have been evaluated as documents that provide data for qualitative researches. Moreover, depending on researchers’ comments that are obtained from sample and content analysis, it is tries to provide a general point of view. These researchers have used portfolios to gather qualitative data.
